Criticism of President Erdoğan’s flippant response to a citizen who said he was struggling to pay for bread continues.
Representatives of leftist and socialist parties reacted to Erdoğan’s remarks and criticised him for not understanding people’s problems in Turkey. “We will drink the tea for joy when Erdoğan leaves”, they said.
What happened?
Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated in the 7th provincial congress of his party in Malatya province of Turkey. Erdoğan distributed tea to the citizens at the entrance of the city. Meanwhile a citizen came closer to him and said, “We have no bread to eat in our homes”.
President Erdoğan answered: “You are exaggerating. Take this package of tea and have some tea for joy”.
