An earthquake registering 6.2 occurred in Maluku, Indonesia. The Meteorology, Climate and Geophysics Authority (BMKG) announced that the earthquake took place 198 km southeast of the central Maluku region. It was recorded 193 km below the surface.
BMKG confirmed that the shock was felt in various cities in the region such as Sorong, Kairatu, Manokwari and Ambon.
No information has been provided so far that details whether there was loss of life or property due to the earthquake.
