The Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party MPs Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder held a second meeting with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan at Imralı Island Prison on Wednesday. The DEM Party delegation to Imrali issued a statement today regarding the content of the four-hour meeting. The delegation has expressed its anticipation for the valuable contributions of all social segments, with the aspiration that this will contribute to the realisation of their objective.
The statement read as follows:
“As DEM Party Imralı Delegation, we held a meeting with Mr Abdullah Öcalan on 22 January 2025 in İmralı Island. During the meeting, Mr Öcalan firstly expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic fire in Bolu and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded.
Our delegation informed him about the negotiations we have been conducting. Mr Öcalan’s work on the process continues. Once the preparations on this subject are finalised, the necessary explanations will be made available to the public. The delegation will undertake its work and contacts, and the public will be informed as developments occur. This process will facilitate coexistence and freedom for all. The valuable contributions of all social segments are eagerly anticipated in the hope that this will be realised.
