🔸 Early presidential elections are to be held in Iran. However, in Rojhilat, the Kurdish-majority region of the Islamic Republic, this election faces a widespread boycott by Kurdish parties, opposition forces, and independent personalities.
🔸 In other election news, Salih Muslim, co-chair of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party, has expressed confidence that local elections will go ahead as planned for North and East Syria in August, despite Turkish opposition.
🔸 Members of a minor Islamist party loyal to the Turkish government have targeted businesses in Turkey’s Kurdish-majority Diyarbakir, including a Burger King and Starbucks.
🔸 And the Committee to Protect Journalists have intervened on behalf of a jailed Kurdish journalist who shortly faces trial on espionage charges.
