🔸 Today saw the continuation of this week’s worldwide ‘Dialogue Days’ events that took place all over Europe, as communities, groups and social movements come together to share and reflect on the philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan.
The events are part of a wider ‘Freedom for Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish issue’ campaign, which kicked off on 10 October 2023.
🔸 Huge fires raged last night between Mardin and Diyarbakır in southeastern Turkey. The fires rapidly spread to residential areas, with citizens reporting at least five people killed and 44 injured. Calls for immediate aerial intervention to extinguish the fires were answered late by Turkish state officials.
🔸 State inaction has been blamed for contributing to the loss of life in southeast Turkey’s wildfires. The lack of an emergency response is reminiscent of the state’s inadequate and politicised aid effort after the 2023 earthquake. Diyarbakır Bar Association has lodged a complaint against the state for ‘intentional abuse of office’.
🔸 Farhad Shami of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) calls out misinformation from the Syrian Interim Government, clarifying that a recent strike against a senior ISIS member was conducted by CENTCOM, not the SDF.
