🔸 Fires rage in Iraqi Kurdistan as Turkish forces continue their incursion. Civilians are fleeing, and attempts to put out the fires are being obstructed. Nine villages have already been emptied.
🔸 Turkey’s recent military activities in northern Syria and Iraq have resulted in the forced displacements and risk of civilian torture, a United Nations representative has said, urging accountability.
🔸 A high-profile murder trail in Iraqi Kurdistan has been delayed for the second time, prompting calls for justice. Deniz Bülbün was shot dead at the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) offices in Erbil (Hewlêr) last year.
🔸 And as Turkey’s largest Kurdish-majority city, Diyarbakır (Amed), sees a spate of attacks on civil society, local MPs point to radicalisation reminiscent of 1990s.
