Kurdish people in Kobani in North East Syria and Makhmour Camp in Iraqi Kurdistan held commemorative events for those who were killed during Turkey’s military operation in Garê in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Euphrates Region Families of Martyrs Assembly held an event in Martyr Dicle Cemetery in Kobani to commemorate Delil Kobane and Reber Kokteb. Hundreds of people from Kobani were in attendance.
A tent for condolence was set up in the cemetery for those who recently died. A relative of Reber, Fatma Osman, consoled the families of 15 people who had been killed and said: “All who were martyred in the Garê Resistance are children of ours and the four parts of Kurdistan”.
Eziz Mehmud, an uncle of Delil Kobani, said: “Our family has 14 martyrs. Delil is not the first who passed away for the country of people of Qeramux. We are proud of them. They are our leaders”. Mehmud also stated that no matter how much Turkey attacks, it cannot remove the resolve and will of the Kurdish people. People also gathered in Makhmour Refugee Camp in Iraqi Kurdistan to commemorate those who were killed.
