After being involved in the Syrian crisis, Turkey’s assertive policy is now aiming against the Kurdish led Autonomous Administration. The Turkish military has committed crimes against the Kurdish people in northeastern Syria in alliances with the so called, Syrian opposition groups, such as the Kurdish National Council (ENKS) that remains committed to the Syrian opposition front, according to Hawar News.
By establishing a union between the Kurdish political forces in Rojava, the Autonomous Administration has constantly been calling upon the ENKS to act together in unity in the interests of Rojava. However, the ENKS has remained on the opposition front and has become a close partner of the Turkish state during the attacks of Afrin (Efrin), Ras al-Ayn (Serekaniye) and Tell Abyad (Gire Spi).
Author and Researcher Arşek Baravi, a member of the Cizre Intellectuals Union, ‘ENKS does not represent the Kurdish people!’’ he said and continued “The Turkish state keeps ENKS on the opposition front to claim that it represents the Kurds to the outside world. But the purpose is to use ENKS for their own interests. The extremist military groups fighting on behalf of the Turkish state that include the followers of the ISIS gangs which were fought against and destroyed by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), are using ENKS to justify their occupation,’’ he said.
”ENKS does not represent the Kurdish people”
”Asolutely nothing was been done to fulfill the 16-point decisions taken in 2013 at the ‘Unity’ meetings on the rights of the Kurdish people,” Baravi added ”ENKS does not represent the Kurdish people in any way. It literally only works for their own interests,’’Baravi continued his words as follows: “ENKS is not accepted as the representative of the Kurdish people in any international platform, nor can it represent the Kurdish people. Because the decisions taken by the opposition gangs do not serve the Kurdish people. ”
Regarding the murder of Hevrin Xelef in Afrin, “It was a plan of the Turkish state. It has made ENKS even darker. The Kurdish people will not accept this. Unfortunately, ENKS fails to see this. The money received from the Turkish state has blinded their eyes.” he said.
“We still hold out some hope however, that they will leave the opposition as soon as possible and serve the Kurdish people. If not and they continue to stay in this ‘opposition front’, they have become a partner in the crimes committed by the Turkish state against the Kurds.” he said.
