Jassem Abd al-Hamada al-Jassem, the leader of the Al-Mashour tribe, one of the most important Al-Baggara tribes in Deir ez –Zor, spoke to Hawar News agency about ongoing attacks from Turkish backed mercenaries in the region and the political position of the Arab tribes regarding the attacks.
Whilst the attacks from Turkey and Turkish-backed mercenaries continue in the northeastern Syria, the residents of the region declare their support to Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and to the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The Arab Al-Mashour tribe is one of the tribes in Deir ez-Zor, who react against the occupation attacks. Al-Jassem, the leader of the Al-Mashour tribe, declared their support for the SDF and the AANES.
The Arab tribes support the Autonomous Administration
Stating that their lands have achieved peace thanks to the SDF, al-Jassem said, “Those who cannot tolerate the success of the SDF are trying to change the demographic structure of the region by attacking North and East Syria. The Arab tribes will not accept any alternative model in the region, we support the Autonomous Administration.”
Al-Jassem stated his tribe supports the SDF, because it was the SDF that defended the local people against the attacks of ISIS. “We do not accept any alternative ruling than the SDF and Autonomous Administration. Syria has suffered a lot in the last 11 years. The Autonomous Administration should be recognized all over the world as a solution to the problems in the region,” he said.
“Turkish state violates Sochi Agreement”
He also criticized Russia for not taking the responsibility as being the guarantor of the Sochi Agreement that it signed with Turkey.
“The Turkish state is violating the agreement signed with Russia. However, Russia remains silent about this. The Turkish state changes the demographic structure of the region and displaces local people before the eyes of Russia,” Al-Jassem stated..
‘Turkey backs ISIS mercenaries and al-Nusra militants, providing them weapons,” said the tribal leader and added, “The Turkish policy does not aim at fighting the terrorist, but the Autonomous Administration does. Therefore we stand by with the Autonomous Administration.”
