Afrin Area Historical Monuments Committee Co-Chair, Esmehan Ehmed stated that, Turkey is converting the Al- Nabi Houri castle into a mosque in Afrin, as reported by Hawar News.
The images and photographs show that a mosque is being built in the Shera district of Afrin where the castle is located.
“They are destroying the historical and cultural heritage of Afrin” says Esmehan Ehmed .
The area, where the Al- Nabi Houri Castle is located, is known as the city of Cyrrhus according to historical records. The history of Al- Nabi Houri Castle goes back to 312 BC. The castle is located approximately 454 km east of Afrin city centre. Since the invasion of Afrin by Turkey and its mercenaries, historical artifacts have been continuously destroyed, stolen and smuggled.
