“ISIS is present in the south of the Libya, especially in the ‘Umm al-Araneb’ region”, Major General Al-Mismari said, the spokesperson for the Libyan National Army (LNA). General Khalifa Haftar heads the LNA.
Al-Mismari added that the mercenaries are ever present in that region and are backed by Chad mercenaries who support the Government of National Accord (GNA). Turkey and Qatar are currently supporting the GNA in Libya, with Turkey playing a pivotal military role. Haftar is supported by Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Russia.
Al-Mismari stated that there are ISIS mercenaries in Tripoli and they arrived in the city after their battles in Benghazi.
Regarding their movement, Al-Mismari said:
“Their arrival took place when the army moved towards Tripoli. Within the framework of total war, the battle is being managed by Turkey in order to break our siege and harass our armed forces by creating these types of provocations behind the armed forces. This is why these groups have arrived”.
