The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria’s (AANES) Humanitarian Affairs Bureau has published a written statement urging the United Nations and the international community to stop Turkey’s latest attacks on Ayn Issa.
“Turkey is committing war crimes”, stated the AANES, adding that “civilians are being targeted”, and that “there is an ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region and civilians are migrating from their homes due to the attacks”. The statement also drew attention to the cutting of Hesekê’s water supply.
“Attacking civilians and cutting Hesekê’s water supply are war crimes”, reads the statement. “In this context, we invite international humanitarian organisations to fulfill their responsibilities and meet the needs of civilians and migrants”.
