Turkey launched a significant military offensive after 17 June against regions in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). The Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP’s) stance over this offensive has been the subject of considerable debate amongst the population. As reactions have mounted against KDP’s collaboration with Turkey, an agent network has been uncovered.
According to revelations published in Hawar News and ANHA, the KDP reportedly tried to establish a network of secret agents to uncover information relating to the executives, commanders and military posts of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Syria (Rojava).
According to these media outlets, the information centre for these operations is based in the city of Hewler (Erbil) in Iraq. These ‘agent operations’ are being coordinated by the KDP’s intelligence service Parastin and Turkey’s National Intelligence Organisation (MİT).
Agents reportedly confessed that the aim of the agent network is to eradicate Rojava’s achievements to date. The public has reacted to news about these special war intelligence operations against northern Syria (Rojava).
Parastin implements the same methods as the MİT
According to Hawar News and ANHA, KDP’s intelligence service Parastin implements the same methods as the MİT in the region. Three agents, İ.E. (46), M.H.D (28) and F.E.X (36), who were working for the KDP’s Parastin as agents, were captured by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Internal Security Forces at different times. They confessed to crimes they had committed in northern Syria (Rojava).
One of them, İ.E., stated that he was a member of the Peoples Protection Units (YPG) between 2011-2019. He confessed that Parastin approached him to work for them. İ.E. stated in his confessions that Rüstem, an agent of the KDP’s Parastin, directed all the operations in Duhok Province of Southern Kurdistan. He added that another Parastin agent, Simko, urged him to share the information he had on the SDF regarding its forces in the region, its artillery and its tunnel network. Simko had also demanded information regarding the military bases of the Coalition forces, the places where Russian and Syrian soldiers were stationed, the written instructions of the SDF organization and the locations of its forces and commanders.
According to İ.E.’s confession, KDP’s Parastin asked him to recruit new agents, and after that, he added, he offered to try recruiting M.H.D (also referred to as ‘H’), who was a chauffeur to one of the SDF’s commanders.
M.H.D (H), who comes from Raco district of Efrin and who was a member of the YPG since 2011, confessed to working for Parastin. M.H.D added that he shared information about the executives from Kobani, Tebqa, Reqa and Derazor with Parastin for 5.000 dollars. İ.E stated that he greatly regretted his actions.
