Turkey regularly carries out airstrikes with war planes and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in northern Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan, where Turkish forces including commando units have conducted a long campaign against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the People’s Defence Units (HPG).
But Turkey’s attacks in northern Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan have frequently also targeted civilians.
The latest deadly attack took place on Monday in Iraq’s Makhmour (Maxmûr) district, where one person was killed.
In July, a tourist resort in Zakho (Zaxo) district in Duhok province was targeted by Turkish shelling, where nine civilians were killed with 25 wounded.
