The resistance of the Yazidi people continues against the Sinjar (Shengal) agreement signed between the Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
The resistance against the agreement signed between Hewlêr and Baghdad on 9 October 2020 is on its 48th day. Yazidis said they will not abandon the public order and will continue to resist.
Xelef Talan, one of the visitors of the protest, said the will of the Sinjar people should be respected.
A two-week protest was launched in Hanover to recognise Sinjar’s Autonomous status. The action took place at Steintor Square in Hanover on 16 January. Several organisations and federation representatives attended the protest and issued statements regarding the Sinjar agreement and the situation of the Yazidi people living in Sinjar. Yazidis Europe, the Yazidi women’s council, and Democratic Alevi Federation representatives attended the protest.
Protestors said that those who abandoned Yazidis to genocide on 3 August 2014 are now preparing the ground for the Turkish state’s occupation of the region. They called for Sinjar’s autonomous status to be accepted.
