Speaking at the commemoration event for the 42nd anniversary of the Maraş Massacre, Democratic Alevi Association (DAD), Ankara Branch member Pınar Alpay said, “Undoubtedly, it is important not to lose our social memory and not to forget about these massacres”.
In addition to representatives of democratic organisations in the city, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Adana Deputy Tülay Hatimoğulları also attended the commemoration held at the DAD Ankara Branch.
A statement by Alevi organisations declared that the massacres of Çorum, Sivas, Suruç and Ankara took place because the Maraş massacre was not fully revealed, and said, “We have not forgotten those who were murdered and those who witnessed these massacres”.
