The Free Yezidi Foundation (FYF) revealed on Monday that after two years of rigourous legal work, it has begun sharing analytical reports and extensive documentation related to the Yazidi Genocide with various international authorities, including UN mechanisms and Europol.
This comprehensive evidence, compiled from investigations in five Sinjar (Şengal) villages, including Tel Banat, Tel Qasab, Siba Sheikh Khidr, Gerzerik and Tel Azir, alongside an examination of the massacre at Qani, represents a pivotal effort in documenting the atrocities faced by the Yazidi community.
The FYF, an investigative team largely comprised of Yazidi women, has worked meticulously alongside international experts to gather and document survivor testimonies and compile evidence with precision. Emphasising the importance of survivor consent, the foundation has ensured that the reports and evidence are disclosed solely to official bodies, adhering strictly to protocols designed to respect and protect the survivors’ rights.
The initiative’s primary goal is to facilitate the accountability of those responsible for the genocide under the law, highlighting the FYF’s commitment to justice for the Yazidi community. By compiling and disclosing these detailed reports and evidence, the FYF aims not only to aid in the prosecution of perpetrators but also to ensure that the horrors of the Yazidi genocide are neither forgotten nor denied.
