A permanent vigil – which was first launched nine years ago to demand freedom for Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in front of the Council of Europe’s headquarters in Strasbourg – has resumed, following the lifting of the lockdowns in France.
People of Kurdistan and their international friends and supporters resumed their daily vigil from 8.30 am and 5 pm in Strasbourg. They had been forced to take a break since November 2020 due to the Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions on gatherings in place.
The vigil for freedom for Abdullah Öcalan was first launched in Strasbourg on 25 June 2012 and it continues.
