The UK has announced a series of sanctions aimed at disrupting Russia’s access to foreign military equipment. Sanctioned businesses include two Turkish firms, Turkik Union and Azu International, which are alleged to have exported microelectronics to Russia, components considered vital for Russia’s military operations.
The sanctions are anticipated to have a substantial impact on Russia’s defence systems by cutting off access to foreign military equipment.
James Cleverly, the UK Foreign Secretary, stated that these “landmark sanctions will further diminish Russia’s arsenal and close the net on supply chains propping up Putin’s now struggling defence industry”. He added that the UK, in concert with its G7 partners, has repeatedly urged third parties “to immediately cease providing material support to Russia’s aggression or face severe costs”.
