Two civilians were killed by Turkish howitzer heavy artillery shelling on Monday in a village near Ain Issa, northern Syria, according to a report by the Press Centre of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The village of Hoshan in the north-western countryside of Ain Issa was targeted by the Turkish artillery around 4pm local time.
25-year-old Sheikh Mohammed died in the shelling, while Bouzan Ossi received severe head injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment but could not be saved.
16-year-old Khaled Jabal al-Ahmad and 25-year-old Mohammed Bouza were severely injured in the shelling and were also taken to Raqqa Hospital for emergency treatment.
Nine killed in Turkish shelling in the last 15 months
According to reports, at least nine civilians were killed, five of them children, by the heavy shelling of Turkish forces in the same area since March 2021.
Two civilians, one of them a 14-year-old child, were killed in Ain Issa by artillery fire of Turkish forces in January.
In August, Turkish shelling targeting the village of Sefawiyê in Ain Issa killed a father and his three children.
One child was killed and four civilians were injured in the village of Hedere in Ain Issa also by Turkish shelling.
