Twenty two people, including disabled and elderly people, were detained during raids in the centre of Hakkari (Colemerg) and in Cevizli village in Çukurca district in Turkey.
Relatives of people who have been detained went to Hakkari Provincial Security Directorate to obtain further information but they have not been informed about the situation of the detainees. Whilst it is possible that the authorities may detain more people, the names of those detained in the village are still being ascertained.
Those detained and whose names are known are as follows: Derviş Aydoğdu, Nimet Önal, Süleyman Erol, Nihat Karataş, Vahit Akın, Cuma Dönmez and Rehmi Özdemir. The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari (Colemerg) Deputy Sait Dede posted a message in his social media account about the raids. Dede stated that no information could be obtained about the detainees and urged the authorities to explain themselves.
