Turkish forces targeted a power station and a checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (or Asayish, the police force in the Kurdish-led autonomous region) in the town of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa, northern Syria, on Sunday.
A Turkish drone strike caused material damage to the power station that supplies electricity to the region, the North Press Agency reported.
According to the local Hawar news agency (ANHA), details of the extent of the damage caused by the airstrike on the checkpoint are not yet known.
Following fierce clashes between Turkish forces and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Zap region of Iraqi Kurdistan on 12 January, in which Turkish forces suffered significant casualties, Turkey has carried out several air strikes against Kurdish forces in northern Syria.
Turkish forces and their allied armed opposition groups, collectively known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), frequently target various areas and infrastructure in northern Syria, resulting in both casualties and material damage.
