The Turkish government’s pre-election raids and operations against pro-Kurdish circles, which have resulted in hundreds of arrests, continue as the country approaches the second round of the presidential election.
Several individuals, including members of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and members of an association that advocates for political prisoners, were detained in simultaneous operations in several Turkish cities on Tuesday morning.
Following the arrest of 19 individuals in operations centred in the capital Ankara on Monday, many were detained this morning in simultaneous house raids in Mardin, Mersin, Ankara, Antalya, Adana and Izmir.
Executives of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), the Association for Assistance to Families of Prisoners and Convicts (TUAY-DER), relatives of prisoners and journalist Delal Akyüz were among the detained, Mezopotamya Agency reported.
