An official from Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) said that Turkish intervention and threats prolong the Syrian crisis, North Press Agency reports.
SDC, the political wing of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), called for intra-Syrian talks since the crisis has not yet been solved internationally.
SDC official Ali Rahmoun said Turkish threats prolong the Syrian crisis and prevent efforts to reach a political solution for the region, and said the crisis will be compounded if Turkey launches a ground operation into northeastern Syria.
The official said further Turkish attacks will destabilise the region, backing the crisis to ground zero.
On 20 November, with the start of Turkish warplanes and drone attacks on the region, educational activities were forced to be suspended in 19 schools in Kobanê canton and students in those schools are still deprived of their right to education, reported Hawar News Agency.
Ali Rahmoun, told North Press Agency that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan exploited the Istanbul “terrorist” blast on 13 November to launch the military operation in north and east Syria in order “to export social and economic domestic crisis”. SDF and other Kurdish forces have denied any involvement with the bombing and point to ISIS and Turkey-backed Syrian opposition groups for responsibility.
“The ongoing Turkish escalation aims at exploiting nationalistic sentiments for Erdoğan to win the elections,” said the co-chair of the SDC.
Turkish military operations against north and east Syria have targeted civil infrastructure and public services while there have been 3,761 counts of strikes, with drones, tanks and heavy artillery, SDF said.
