On the night of 18 November, a young man by the name of Tacettin Aslan was beaten up by police in the street in Melik Ahmet neighbourhood in the Sur district of Diyarbakır (Amed), MA reports.
The police arrived at the scene at night after a fight between youths. One of the young men, Aslan, was standing there and they knocked him to the ground and cuffed his hands behind his back.
Footage has been found of the young man being beaten by the police. The video shows the youth lying face down on the ground being kicked by a policeman in plain clothes.
The Mesopotamia Agency reported that the police also pushed his mother about, when she objected to her son being beaten, Tacettin Aslan.
She said to them, “Don’t hit my son,” but their response was to physically push her away.
The video reveals that the police also shouted at and insulted other citizens who objected to the incident.
Tacettin Aslan was detained after his beating and formally arrested by the court on grounds of “resisting the police”.
