Branch offices of the pro-Kurdish opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) was attacked by an unidentified assailant or assailants early on Sunday.
The assault in Turkey’s southern province of Mersin occured in the district of Erdemli as the assailant(s) fired, reportedly with a shotgun, at the HDP offices. The party’s signpost was hit and damaged.
The gendarmerie was informed about the assault by party officials, who reacted on Twitter:
“We condemn the attack targeting our offices last night. The people who recently filled celebration areas in Newroz will respond to such attacks by liberating all peoples of Turkey. HDP is the people.”
