The 26th edition of the Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival is poised to captivate audiences with a line-up of 64 films, commencing on 31 May.
Under the theme of “More, Not Less,” the festival will showcase women’s struggle for rights and their profound impact on the world of cinema. The festival will be held at the Büyülü Fener Kızılay Cinema in Ankara.
Tickets for the festival screenings will go on sale from 12.00 on 27 May.
The prestigious Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival, known for its recognition of women’s contributions to cinema and its support for emerging female filmmakers, will present its coveted awards during the grand opening night on 31 May.
As part of the festival’s Special Screenings section, the audience will witness films such as “Çekmeceler,” starring Tilbe Saran, “Toz Bezi,” starring Asiye Dinçsoy and “Cehennem Boş, Tüm Şeytanlar Burada,” starring Öyküsu Özyürek.
Moreover, the Flying Broom will present award-winning films that have garnered international acclaim. Alice Diop’s controversial masterpiece “Saint Omer,” France’s nominee for this year’s Oscar, and Joanna Hogg’s latest creation “The Eternal Daughter” are among the highly anticipated films to be showcased. Notably, acclaimed director Margarethe von Trotta’s compelling portrayal of Ingeborg Bachmann, titled “Ingeborg Bachmann – Journey to the Heart of the Desert”, which competed at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival, will have its first screening in Ankara as part of the festival. Additionally, Basque director Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren’s acclaimed film “20,000 Species of Bees”, which garnered recognition at the Berlin festival, will enrich the Flying Broom festival’s diverse programme.
