Today, 16th of June, marks the 100th day of the ‘justice vigil’ of the Şenyaşar family who has been demanding justice for the murder of their beloved family members., MA reports.
Emine Şenyaşar’s husband, Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar, and two of their sons, Adil and Celal, died in an armed attack by the bodyguards and relatives of the Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) Urfa deputy, İbrahim Halil Yıldız, in 2018.
The murder happened in broad daylight and in front of many witnesses and people, but still, the perpetrators have not been punished.
On the 100th day of their vigil, Emine and Ferit Şenyaşar were, yet again, in front of the Urfa Court House.
“A mother has been in a vigil in front of the Şanlıurfa Justice Palace for 100 days. Her 2 children and husband were killed in the hospital. There has been no legal case for 3 years because a deputy was involved in the massacre” was written in the placard that Emine Şenyaşar was carrying.
Ferit Şenyaşar made a press release there and stated the following:
“A massacre took place in Suruç State Hospital under the direction and control of an MP. Şanlıurfa Chief Prosecutor is now covering up the massacre, and by doing so is committing a crime. We have filed a criminal complaint with the Constitutional Court (AYM) regarding this and we are waiting for the result. If a fair decision is to be made by the Constitutional Court, legal action will begin against the prosecutor who is currently serving as the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor.”
He continued: “Since the prosecutor has covered up this massacre he is now becoming a partner in the massacre. We have been here with my mother for 100 days. The pavements of Şanlıurfa Justice Palace have become our second home. We do not sit at home. We are not just doing a sit-in here, we are also demanding and fighting for justice!”
The Şenyaşar family has faced police intervention many times during their vigil for justice.
Both mother and son have been attacked and detained by the police.
“Every time we enter the courthouse and want to talk to the prosecutors about the case, the police prevent us. Prosecutors are uncomfortable with our demand for justice. If prosecutors are bothered by this, then we will continue to bother them. Because there is a crime against humanity that has been committed and we will not leave here until this crime is exposed and the perpetrators of the massacre are tried. We have risked being detained and even killed. We’ll get justice and then we’ll go home”said Ferit Senyasar.
