After deadly floods last month, torrential rains once again descended on Turkey’s Kurdish-majority earthquake-stricken provinces of Adıyaman (Semsûr) and Şanlıurfa (Rîha) on Tuesday, flooding tent cities where quake victims have been living since 6 February.
As houses and workplaces became flooded and tent cities were submerged in water, three people were injured in a pile-up on a slippery road in Şanlıurfa, ArtıGerçek reported.
Earthquake survivors shared pictures of waterlogged tents on social media, once again expressing their outrage against the Turkish government.
This is the second flooding to inundate tent cities following the devastating earthquakes that killed over 50,000 people in February. On 15 March, a total of 20 people were killed in floods that affected Adıyaman and Şanlıurfa, as well as Malatya (Meletî), Mardin (Mêrdîn) and Diyarbakır (Amed).
Two months after the earthquake, most of the citizens who lost their homes are still living in tent cities in the earthquake region.
