The challenging migration journey of storks, which begins every year in August, has begun. With the summer season coming to an end, storks begin a journey spanning thousands of kilometers, from Istanbul and other parts of Europe to South Africa.
As they travel, they provide a breathtaking sight.
Reportedly, around five to six hundred thousand storks migrate to Europe and the Balkans via Istanbul in the spring. After giving birth to fledglings, the storks migrate back to Africa at the end of August.
The number of storks involved in this autumn migration reaches nine hundred thousand to a million.
Unfortunately, thousands of storks lose their lives due to crashing into power lines every year.
In addition, more than 24 million birds are illegally killed every year in the Mediterranean alone.
