Curfews and conflicts began in 2015 in the district of Sur in Diyarbakır (Amed) in Turkey. Hundreds of children, youth and women were injured and scores of people were killed in clashes during the curfew that was imposed on 2 December 2015 in six neighbourhoods in Sur.
Çekwar Çubuk (16), Rozerin Çukur (17) and Helin Şen (12) were among those who were murdered by state actors during the curfews. The mothers of Çekwar, Rozerin and Helin spoke to Jinnews. “The killer of our children is the state: we will forget neither our children, nor Sur”, said the mothers.
