ANHA reported that the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) in North and East Syria blessed the advent of Christmas with a message to Christians and all the peoples of North and East Syria, wishing Christians in NE Syria and around the world, a happy Christmas and wishing that 2021 would be a year in which peace prevails throughout Syria.
TEV DEM’s message read as follows:
“On the occassion of the birth of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, a messenger of love and tolerance, at Christmas we send our higest respect and best wishes to all of our Christian brothers of all denominations in North and East Syria and all around the world and hope that during these holidays and celebrations there will be an opportunity to strengthen the brotherhood of peoples and in particular to block any attempts to create confusion and discrimination between the children of our peoples of North and East Syria. Happy Christmas to all of our Christian brothers and sisters on these blessed days and we hope and pray that peace will prevail in all of our regions and the whole of Syria in the New Year.”
The TEV DEM message was sent as Chaldean Christians and others celebrated Christmas and the birth of Jesus Christ, all over NE Syria on Christmas Day.
NE Syria has arguably the strongest laws on equality of faiths and religious tolerance in the Middle East.
This religious tolerance is now threatened by the continuing invasion of Turkish forces using Jihadist merceneries to attack the Autonomous Adiministration of North and East Syria (AANES) in Ayn Issa and surrounding areas.
Ayn Issa translates into English as The Spring of Jesus.
