Syria’s interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa arrived in Turkey on Friday to participate in the fourth Antalya Diplomacy Forum. This is his second visit to Turkey since taking office and is part of a wider regional tour aimed at garnering political and economic support for Syria’s transitional government.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum, hosted by Turkey from 11-13 April, has become a key event for discussing regional security and diplomatic cooperation. The forum’s theme, ‘Embracing Diplomacy in a Divided World’, comes at a time of rising regional tensions, particularly in northern Syria. Security cooperation, particularly on the Syrian border, will reportedly feature in private talks between President al-Sharaa and Turkish officials. Possible arrangements on the ground, including Turkish observation posts in Syria, are being discussed, reflecting changing regional alliances and border security strategies.
During the event, al-Sharaa met with Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev for talks aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and discussing Syria’s transitional progress.
