A sit-in protest was launched in front of the Bundestag in Berlin on 11 January to extend solidarity to prison hunger strikers in Turkey who continue to protest against the prison isolation conditions of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan and the ongoing ill-treatment of prisoners in the country.
Following the call of the European Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress (KCDK-E), people of Kurdistan living in Germany and international supporters launched a rotating five-day sit-in protest in front of the Bundestag (German Parliament) in Berlin.
The sit-in protesters also demanded that the prison isolation conditions imposed on Öcalan should be lifted. The Berlin protestors stated: “We support the hungers strikes in Turkey and their demand is our demand”.
