The people of Sinjar’s (Shengal) protest in front of the Sinjar Asayish Centre (Ezidxan Asayishi) against the Shengal (Sinjar) agreement signed between Baghdad and Hewler continues for a month.
Protests of the locals continue in Sinjar, following the Sinjar agreement signed between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
After the Sinjar Agreement, the Iraqi Government wanted to close the Yazidi Public Security Centres. The Sinjar Democratic Autonomous Council reacted against this decision. The Yazidi locals of Sinjar have been protesting in front of Êzidxan Asayish centers to protest against the agreement.
The representatives of the Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party (PADE), the Yazidi Women’s Movement (TAJÊ) and the tribes in Shengal joined the protest.
“Sinjar has become a fortress of resistance,” said the people of Sinjar joining the vigil. The Sinjar people at the vigil demand the legitimate right of defense of the Iraqi peoples to be recognized.
Shengal Autonomous Administration spokesperson Faris Herbo shared his evaluations regarding the Sinjar Agreement.
‘’The agreement has not been put into practice until now thanks to the resistance developed by the people in the region and the negotiations they are conducting. At the centre of the discussions here lies the Turkish state’s approach to Sinjar,’’ Herbo said.
He demanded all political parties supporting democracy around the world take a stance against the attacks of the Turkish state targeting Sinjar.
“Our efforts to find a peaceful solution in Sinjar will continue,” he said.
