PYD Co-Chair Ayşe Hiso: The policy of Turkification prolongs the Syrian crisis

Democratic Union Party (PYD) Co-chair Ayşe Hiso spoke to Hawar News (ANHA) regarding the Turkification policies followed by the Turkish state in places of Syria where they have attacked and occupied,‘This policy prolongs the Syrian crisis,’ she said.

Ayşe Hiso claimed that the Turkish state is changing the demographic structure of the regions in Syria with Turkification policies. ”The Turkification policies has prolonged the Syrian crisis” she said. Regarding the Astana and Geneva talks held for the solution of the Syrian crisis, ‘In Astana talks, they have taken steps to make the conflicts permanent in Syria with the Turkish state’s involvement in the Syrian crisis,” Ayşe Hiso said and added “The Turkish state tried to attract the Syrian opposition from the beginning. It was the first step to prepare the ground for the occupation ” she said.

Regarding the situation of Bab, Ezaz, Idlib and Jarablus, PYD Co-chair Ayşe Hiso claimed that the situation is no different in Afrin, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê. ”All are the result of the Turkish state’s expansionist policies. It is trying to reach the former Ottoman borders. AKP-Erdogan personally manages these plans,” she said. Ayşe Hiso underlined that these are the policy of ”assimilation”. ”The Turkish state could solve the Syrian crisis but they just want the region to be Turkified. This is why they support the opposition,” she said.

”Demographic change has reached in a dangerous point in Afrin. We always stood against demographic change.” Ayşe Hiso said, and added “We were attacked from all sides because we represent democratic politics. These processes failed because we were not included in the Geneva and Astana process.”

For the solution of the Syrian crisis, she stated that dialogue without the real representatives of the region are not acceptable. “Some circles are trying to take advantage of the Syrian crisis. “The crisis is prolonged due to this taking advantage.” For the ongoing crisis in Idlib, Ayşe Hiso stated that the Turkish state’s military in the region continue to preserve the conflict. ‘What happened in Idlib is a continuation of the Astana’’ she said and continued ‘The Turkish state’s occupation policy is rejected by the Syrian peoples. The resistance that started in Afrin, the Serêkaniyê resistance in Shehba continues in the Waşûkani Camp,” PYD Co-chair Ayşe Hiso said.
