On 23 April the Turkish Ministry of Defence announced that the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) had launched an operation against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) guerrillas in Iraqi Kurdistan.
As clashes in Avashin, Zap and Metina regions of the Qandil Mountains, known as the Medya Defence Zones, continue between the Turkish Armed Forces and Kurdish fighters, Kurds in Europe took the streets to protest Turkey’s operations against the PKK.
Demonstrations were held in various cities, including Mannheim, Limassol, Vienne, Graz and Stuttgart.
