Footage of Iranian Islamic Revolution leader and founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini’s house being set on fire was shared on various social media accounts on Friday.
The footage shows protesters throwing Molotov cocktails at Khomeini’s house as it catches on fire. Khomeini’s childhood home, which had been turned into a museum, is in Khomein, his birth town.
While Reuters verified the location in the video clips using the distinctive arches and buildings that match file images, Iran’s semi-official news agency Tesnim denied the allegations that there had been an arson attack.
