The pro-Kurdish Green Left Party is actively urging voters to participate in the second round of the presidential election on 28 May.
“We halted fascism, now it’s time to defeat it. Vote, protect your ballot box, let’s remove the one-man rule,” declared the Green Left Party in a message shared on Saturday evening.
In the accompanying video message, Mithat Sancar, co-chair of the Peoples’ Democracy Party (HDP), addressed voters residing abroad, underscoring their critical role in shaping the outcome of the election.
The HDP ran under the Green Left Party banner in the parliamentary elections on 14 May due to a case pending for its closure at Turkey’s Constitutional Court.
Sancar called on citizens abroad to actively engage in the presidential run-off election, saying, “Give the clearest answer at the ballot box to the Erdoğan regime, which has condemned the country to poverty, corruption, injustice and authoritarianism.”
George Aslan, an Assyrian political activist who has been exiled in Europe for years, was elected as Green Left Party MP for Mardin (Mêrdîn) on 14 May. In a multilingual message he delivered in Kurdish, Turkish and Syriac languages, Aslan urged voters to participate in the presidential run-off election on 28 May.
