The Kurdistan Women’s Freedom Party (PAJK) celebrated Newroz, a significant day on the Kurdish calendar marking the arrival of spring, by publishing a message.
“We commemorate Mazlum Doğan, Zekiye Alkan, Rahşan, Sema, Bêrîwan, Ronahî, and all other martyrs of revolution”, announced the PAJK, adding that they will continue to fight for the freedom of Kurdistan Workers’ Party leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The PAJK also noted the history of resistance in Kurdistan. “The fire of Newroz was first lit in the Garê mountains by the Aryan people against the tyrannies in the region. We continue to burn that fire of resistance”. The resistance in Garê on 10 February is the continuation of that fire, continued the statement.
“Leader Apo’s life and freedom are crucial to our existence as a people. This should be approached very seriously, and a historical resistance should be made against AKP-MHP fascism and other forces”, said the PAJK, calling on people to participate in the celebrations.
“It is the duty and responsibility of women and our people to participate in the Newroz celebrations with the spirit of Leader Apo’s resistance. Keeping the spirit of Newroz alive with this belief will be the guarantee of Leader Apo’s physical freedom”.
