A Turkish drone strike targeting a vehicle killed a 11-year-old child near the city of Amuda in northeast Syria, on Wednesday, Hawar News reported. The attack occured on the Amuda-Ad Darbasiyah highway.
The child named Mihemed Eli Kelah died in the missile strike while 13-year-olds Mahir Îsa Kelah, Omer Xanim and Ela Cedû Ehmed were injured.
The strike also damaged electric cables, leaving 40 villages in the region without power, according to a statement by Amuda Power centre.
Amuda is a city of 27,000 in the Haseke province under the governance of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The provincial capital of Haseke saw clashes last month as the Islamic State (ISIS) assaulted a prison compound to free thousands of militants, with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) responding, thwarthing the ISIS attack after days of heavy clashes that left almost 500 dead on both sides.
As many ISIS detainees were reported to have managed to escape, the combing operations by the SDF in the region continues for re-capturing escapees.
