The program of Newroz celebrations that will be organised in 30 cities and 61 centres in Turkey will be announced tomorrow in Diyarbakır (Amed) with a press conference. The slogan of the Newroz 2021 celebrations is expected to be announced as “Let’s resist with the Newroz fire, let’s be free!”, Mesopotamia Agency reports.
As the 21 March approaches, millions of people are expected to take to the streets in Turkey for the Newroz celebrations. Political parties and several organisations including the Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), Free Women’s Movement (TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Kurdistan Alliance Work will announce the Newroz program tomorrow.
The slogan of the Newroz 2021 will reportedly be “Let’s resist with the Newroz fire, let’s be free”.
First Newroz fire in Halfeti, where Abdullah Öcalan was born
The first of the celebrations will take place on 15th of March in the Halfeti (Xelfeti) district of SE Turkey’s Şanlıurfa (Riha) province, where the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan was born and the other Newroz celebrations will take place in other cities right up until the 22 March.
The Kurdish New Year celebrations of Newroz, which witnesses the participation of millions every year, will be celebrated in Istanbul on 20 March and in Diyarbakır (Amed) on 21 March.
New song for Newroz celebrations
The new Newroz song composed and performed by various Kurdish musicians titled as “Dîsa li Newrozan” (‘Again in Newroz’) will be also shared with the public for the first time during the press conference that will be held in Diyarbakır tomorrow.
