Rescue teams found the bodies of musician Zilan Tigris and her actor partner Çağdaş Cankaya in the early hours of Sunday under the rubble of a nine-storey building in Diyarbakır (Amed), which was destroyed in the massive earthquakes on 6 February.
The search and rescue efforts at Sözel Apartment, where Tigris and Cankaya lived after it was destroyed in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake, continued because there were sounds coming from under the rubble, according to the report of journalist Birsen Altuntaş.
However, on the sixth night after the earthquake, rescuers removed the bodies of the couple, who had died of cold under the rubble.
Tigris, who sang in 10 languages, and particularly Armenian and Kurdish, was buried in Diyarbakır’s Yeniköy Cemetery on Sunday.
