Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) MP Zikrî Zebarî has given a press conference in response to Turkey’s ongoing air and ground campaign in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Zebarî mentioned the killing of two children, named Yusuf and Rafand, in an aerial bombardment by planes of the Turkish occupiers.
“Who can explain how these two children were killed, how they were martyred during an entertainment gathering in the countryside?” he added.
Turkey’s attacks on Iraqi Kurdistan have killed 150 civilians and injured 133 since 2015, he stated. “Many villagers have been displaced. Seventeen hundred hectares of orchards and fields have been chopped down or burnt to the ground.”
He added:
“It is an absolute requirement for the Kurdistan Regional Government to immediately recognise the citizens killed in these attacks as martyrs, and grant compensation to all those who have been wounded, displaced from their villages or whose fields have been burnt and destroyed.”
Zebarî has previously condemned Turkey’s attacks in sessions in the Iraqi parliament.
