Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of armed attacks of Justice and Development Party (AKP) MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız and his men on 24 June 24 2018 during the General Election campaign in Turkey, have launched a sit-in in Urfa’s (Riha) Suruç district on 9 March in front of the Urfa Courthouse, demanding “Justice”.
Emine Şenyaşar and Ferit Şenyaşar are demanding justice for their loved ones who were killed by an armed attack of an AKP MP and his men. After three members of Şenyaşar family were injured by the armed attack in their shop in Urfa’s Suruç district, they were hospitalised. But the AKP MP and his men stormed into the hospital and killed Esvet Şenyaşar and his two sons Adil ve Celal Şenyaşar.
Whilst the brother of AKP MP Enver Yıldız faces only 12 years of sentence, a sentence of up to 150 years is demanded for Fadıl Şenyaşar, one of the detained defendants in the case and the son of Emine Şenyaşar who has been on a sit-in protest for three days.
Since the first trial in the case is seen today, the sit-in protestor Ferit Şenyaşar went to Malatya where the case was transferred based on “security” reasons. However, the Emine Şenyaşar continues her sit-in in frontt of the Urfa Courthouse.
Emine Şenyaşar demanded to meet with the prosecutor of the case, but her request was not given any response.
“They have slaughtered our family. I have lost my husband, I have lost my two sons and my other son has been in prison for 3 years all alone in a cell. We demand to see the prosecutor here, but the prosecutor does not accept to see us,” said Emine Eşnyaşar
She also expressed how she witnessed the murder of her family. “They have murdered my husband and my children before my eyes in the hospital when they were being treated. Why do they not reveal the footage of the hospital cameras?” she said.
On the third day of her sit-in, Emine Şenyaşar states that she will continue her sit-in until the justice is served and the killers of her husband and her children are punished by the court.
