Military operations launched Wednesday morning in Dibek (Dêrxus), Arıklı (Huseynik) and Karahasan neighbourhoods in the Lice district of Diyarbakır (Amed) continue.
Military units and armoured vehicles were positioned at different points around the neighborhoods as the entrance and exit from the district is banned, according to Mesopotamia Agency.
It was also reported that Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (AUAV) and drones are flying over the region and that there is intense helicopter traffic with military drones also constantly being flown over the neighborhoods and hamlets in the region.
4 villagers detained
While entering and exiting the neighborhood have not been allowed since Wednesday, 4 villagers including Eyüp Özkan and an 18-yearl-old shepherd Berat Alageyik were detained during the house raids.
As the villagers detained were taken to Lice Gendarmerie Station, soldiers physically attacked and tortured the villagers as they detained them, according to Mesopotamia Agency.
Whilst Turkish military operations continues in Lice, local sources in the region said that two People’s Defense Units (HPG) members lost their lives during the clashes that broke out on Wednesday
Young shepherd was battered by the soldiers
A villager from Lice, who witnesed the raids said, “Our village is under blockade. There were sounds of gun shots, then our homes were raided. ‘If anything happens to any soldier here, think what the rest of us will do,’ the soldiers told us threatening us.”
The witness of the incidents also said the 18 year old shepherd Akgeyik was battered by the soldiers as he was being detained.
A delegation from the HDP is visiting the region
On Friday, a delegation of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) led by the HDP’s MP for Diyarbakır Remziye Tosun visited Lice.
The HDP delegation is expected to meet with the residents of the district over the allegations of torture during house raids.
