The Turkish army is increasing its border positions and making preparations to relocate a military post while also building watchtowers behind minefields in Mardin province near the Syrian border.
More than 100 ISIS militants have been arrested by the Syrian Democratic Forces in an eight-day operation that ended on Friday. Reports say that ISIS cells were planning to attack the Christmas and New Year celebrations in Qamishlo and Hasakah, but the operation thwarted any such attacks.
Pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party or HDP have announced they will be running their own candidate in the upcoming Turkish presidential elections. They also plan to appeal the Constitutional Court’s decision to block the party’s access to funds.
