The first execution of a protester has taken place in Iran. Mohsen Shekari was involved in the Jina Amini protests, and was arrested and hanged for wounding a member of the paramilitary Basij force. At least 11 protesters have been sentenced to death. Shekari is the first to be executed.
Turkish air strikes in North East Syria have displaced families and deprived people of necessary supplies, aid and infrastructure according to the findings of a new Human Rights Watch study.
Efforts are being made to counter the Turkish attacks, with Syrian Kurds launching a campaign to demand a no-fly zone to end the violence, while two US Representatives who recently expressed support for Kurds in Iran, Iraq and Syria also voiced concerns over Washington “turning its back on Kurdish allies”.
Turkey has been proven to misuse components manufactured by the US, China and European companies, including electromagnetic brakes from Holland which Turkey used in a military capacity. This was revealed in a study presented by London-based Conflict Armament Research.
