The father of Anna Campbell, a British volunteer in North and East Syria who lost her life in a Turkish drone strike during the 2018 invasion and occupation of Afrin, has launched a legal appeal in Strasbourg to repatriate her body. Dirk Campbell hopes that the European legal process will also draw attention to historic and ongoing rights violations by Turkey against the Kurdish minority, whom his daughter was fighting to defend.

Turkish soldiers have also been accused of ‘torturing’ Kurdish villagers in regions under Turkish control, with footage sparking outrage on social media.
