Turkey’s new disinformation law has come into force with the sentencing of journalist Sinan Aygül to 10 months in prison for “disinforming the public” over his report on the alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl by police officers.
A Peoples’ Democratic Party MP claims Christian communities in the earthquake-struck regions of Hatay are being targeted by the Turkish government.
The 6 February earthquakes have caused great destruction in Antakya, a city in southeast Turkey with a Jewish population that goes back to the Roman Empire. The disaster will likely mark the end of their presence in the city.
One hundred literary and artist women in Al-Qamishli attended the 8th Women’s Literature and Art Festival.
The festival was held at the Muhammad Şêxo Cultural and Art Centre and sponsored by the Cizre Region Culture and Art Board.
